Tight Mind Monday: Committed to Excellence

Doc Ali’s Tight Mind Monday 5-23-16: Committed

The decision to commit to excellence is important to any advanced athlete. What is your experience of going halfway–one foot in the door and the other foot out?

Commitment is pushing yourself to do whatever it takes to reach your goals, even when it’s hard–especially when it’s hard! Don’t just talk about what you want but actually do what it takes to get there. Remember, it’s easy to talk about the dream, but harder to do what it takes to make it come true. The following questions are designed to make you think about your goals and what you are willing to sacrifice to achieve them.

1. What is my goal this season/summer?

2. What do I need to do in practice in order to achieve it? What skills to I need to learn or improve on?

3. What do I need to do mentally? What fears, frustrations, motivational issues do I need to push through?

4. What do I need to do with my strength, conditioning, nutritional, or fitness plan?

5. What do I need to do to keep my stress down and keep gymnastics fun?

This week make a commitment you are willing to put into action to reach your goals. Make it specific and realistic. Keep doing that until you feel like you have created a habit of a champion.
