Trinity Thomas Eyes Tokyo 2020

While Simone Biles and Team USA are racking up gold medals in Rio, the next generation of U.S. gymnastics superstars is working hard behind the scenes to prepare for a future of success. Trinity Thomas is one of those rising stars.

Thomas was named to the U.S. Junior National Team earlier this year and made her international debut at the 2016 City of Jesolo Trophy. Her goal is earning a spot on the four-woman Tokyo 2020 team, and she's in the gym working to make that dream a reality. She turns 16 next year and trains at Prestige Gymnastics in Lancaster, PA.

Thomas was recently featured on her local news station.

Thomas particularly excels on floor with her extraordinary tumbling passes. At 2016 P&G Championships, she had a 6.1 D-score on floor, which is hugely impressive, especially as a junior elite. She performs a 2.5 twist through to a double back, which is considered difficult at the current Olympic level.

Thomas is definitely one to watch for in the future, and when Tokyo 2020 comes along, perhaps she'll remember the extra inspiration she gained from the Rio Games we are watching right now.
