The Individual Stars At NCAA Regionals
This Saturday is one of the biggest days of the year for NCAA gymnastics. Regional competitions will take place at six locations, with six teams competing at each site, to determine who will move on to the semifinals of the NCAA Championship.

In addition to the six teams per site, there will also be two all-around competitors and two event specialists per event at each site who are not on one of the qualifying teams. The top two all-around competitors who are not part of a team will advance to NCAA Championship, as will the winners of each individual event who are not part of a team.

Along with the exciting team competitions, the individuals competing are impressive -- we highlighted the gymnasts to keep an eye on from each regional below.

Iowa City Regional - Denasiha Christian, Ball State

Senior Denasiha Christian from Ball State will compete on both vault and floor as an individual at the Iowa City Regional. Christian performs a beautiful Yurchenko Arabian on vault, which she stuck at the Mid-Atlantic Conference Championships. Her floor routine is equally impressive and full of energy with powerful tumbling. Check out her routine below -- it earned her a 9.95.

Salt Lake City Regional - Stephanie Stamates, UC Davis

Senior Stephanie Stamates from UC Davis will compete on both beam and floor as an individual at the Salt Lake City Regional. Nationally, she is ranked No. 53 on beam and No. 47 on floor. Stamates is a solid competitor for the team in both events, and regularly scores in the 9.9 range. Check out her beam routine below from Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championship.

Tuscaloosa Regional - Taylor Allex, Arizona State

Senior Taylor Allex joined the Sun Devils in 2015 after transferring from Utah. She will compete in vault and floor at the Tuscaloosa Regional, and she’s ranked within the top 30 nationally on both events. Allex’s floor routine has some of the toughest tumbling in NCAA, including a double Arabian and a 2 ½-to-punch front full. Her vault is equally big, and she performs a clean Yurchenko 1 ½ to put up big numbers for Arizona State. She has achieved a season-high score of 9.9 four times.

Minneapolis Regional - Meaghan Sievers, Iowa State

Freshman Meaghan Sievers is having a stellar first year. She qualified to compete in the all-around at the Minneapolis Regional alongside teammate Haylee Young. One of Sievers’ best events is vault, where she performs a unique front handspring, front pike half, which starts out of a 10.0. Check out the video below, where she scored a career-high 9.925.

Ann Arbor Regional - Lindsay Offutt, Pittsburgh

Senior Lindsay Offutt has come a long way during her time at Pittsburgh, and she’s now one of the top all-arounders in the country (No. 21) with a season-high 39.575. She’ll be competing in the all-around at the Ann Arbor Regional to try and secure one of the spots to move on to championship. Offutt performs unique, difficult moves in her routines, such as front handspring, front pike half vault, a layout stepout to layout stepout tumbling series and front tuck to beat jump on beam. Check out this highlight video below, which shows all her routines from her record-breaking 39.575 all-around score.

Athens Regional - Brittni Watkins, North Carolina State

Senior Brittni Watkins has qualified to the Athens Regional as an individual all-around competitor. She is currently ranked No. 34 nationally in the all-around, the highest on her team. Watkins is another gymnast who performs difficult moves in all of her routines, such as a Yurchenko 1 1/2 on vault and a front tuck to wolf jump connection on beam. Floor is one of her best events, where she is ranked No. 30. She performs a piked full-in and a double pike that are both sky-high. Check out her routine below from an early-season meet against Louisiana State.
