The Japan Gymnastics Association has announced its women's gymnastics team for the 2016 Olympic Games Saturday, as reported by The Japan Times.

Asuka Teramoto, Mai MurakamiAiko SugiharaYuki Uchiyama and Sae Miyakawa will be competing in Rio in August.

The five-woman team was trimmed down from seven candidates after two trials. Murakami won Saturday's trial with an all-around score of 57.3. Teramoto was second while Sugihara was third. 

The other two candidates include Natsumi Sasada and Marina Yawasaki.

20-year-old veteran Teramoto will serve as team captain. She was 11th in the all-around at the 2012 London Olympics. The Japanese women were sixth in the 2012 team final and have not won a team medal since 1964.
