Price, Mikulak Win AT&T American Cup
...

Team USA's American Cup win streak lives on as Elizabeth Price of Parkettes and Sam Mikulak of University of Michigan clinched the all around titles today at the 2014 AT&T American Cup in Greensboro, NC.

Price led from the start of the competition and never looked back. In rotation one, she vaulted a monstrous Amanar with a clean landing to score a 15.700 (6.3/9.4). She dominated the competition and totaled a 59.966 in the all around to win by over two points. She performed a clean bar routine with a precise Church to overshoot connection and stuck full twisting double layout dismount for a 15.20. On beam, she started off with a standing full, hit her new back handspring to true layout flight series and confidently stuck her double pike dismount. In the final rotation, Price secured her victory with a fun new floor routine highlighted by a stuck double double first pass and double layout second pass.

Watch Price on bars:

Price earned the top scores on every event except for floor where she was second behind 2013 World Floor silver medalist Vanessa Ferarri of Italy. Ferarri mounted with a clean double double and connected a back tuck to her full in second pass for a 14.633. Ferarri finished 5th all around.

Brenna Dowell of GAGE was called in on Sunday to replace injured World Champion Simone Biles and finished second all around with a commendable performance. Dowell started off strong with an Amanar vault (15.60) and debuted an incredible new bar routine featuring a Tweddle+Ezhova combination. Switzerland's Guilia Steingruber finished third while Canadian sensation Victoria Moors was 4th. Moors closed out the meet with her gorgeous new floor routine and her signature skill, the double twisting double layout.

On the men's side, Mikulak slipped into second place behind Shogo Nonomura of Japan heading into the final rotation after a slight mishap on parallel bars. He closed out his meet with a huge high bar routine including a Kohlman and a double twisting double layout dismount with a hop. Nonomura took a fall on a release move and the prestigious title was safely in Mikulak's hands.

Nonomura finished second and British Olympian Daniel Purvis was third. American John Orozco had a scary fall on his parallel bars dismount at the end of a great routine and finished in 5th place.

Video interviews coming soon.
