Utah and Southern Utah took center stage in a big in-state showdown tonight. The Utes came out with the road win, scoring a 196.725 over Southern Utah’s 195.60. Utah sophomore Kari Lee took the all-around title with a 38.775.

Southern Utah put up six strong vaults to open the competition, highlighted by Stacie Webb’s 9.85 Yurchenko full. The Thunderbirds notched a 48.925 on the event. Utah had a remarkable bar rotation, totaling a 49.475. Their lineup was bolstered by 9.925s from seniors Kassandra Lopez and Breanna Hughes.

On vault, the Utes were consistent but unable to dial in the landings until the final competitor—Hughes—stuck her Yurchenko 1.5 for a 9.9, earned the top score of the night on vault. Southern Utah faced a few difficulties on bar releases and totaled a 48.375.

Southern Utah was incredibly confident on beam, putting up five routines above a 9.75. Webb turned in a 9.875 to lead the team to a 49.050 on the event. Utah struggled on a couple floor landings and came out just under a 49 on the event with a 48.950. Hughes led the pack with her 9.875 routine and freshman Sabrina Schwab showed off a very clean set for a 9.850.

In the final rotation, Southern Utah’s Madyson Blake won the hearts of the crowd with her career-best 9.9 floor routine, helping the team to an impressive 49.25. The Utes clinched the win with 9.9 performances from both Lee and sophomore Samantha Partyka on beam. Sophomore Maddy Stover anchored the event with a strong 9.85.
