Juniors to Watch for at P&G Championships

This years P&G Championships is packed with 37 juniors due to compete this coming week compared to only 16 seniors. Behind the spotlight of Jordan Chiles, Nia Dennis, Ragan Smith, and Norah Flatley, there are other girls to be looking out for this coming week at the P&G Championships. Here are some other junior names to keep your eye on:

Emily Gaskins - Junior national team member Emily Gaskins is definitely one to watch for. She placed fourth on beam at the U.S. Classic and is Mary Lee Tracy’s top junior at the competition. In Beyond the Routine, Tracy talks about Emily's world-class look. Tracy says she has the whole package and is physically very talented. Emily has the potential to deliver some beautiful, solid routines, especially on beam and floor. Emily's artistry really shines through on floor with her classical dance and gorgeous lines. Emily trains with CGA elites Amelia Hundley and Aria Brusch who will both be competing at the Championships.

Maile O'Keefe - Maile has improved a great deal since last year and came sixth in the all-around and second on floor at the Secret Classic. She has beautiful lines and continues to mature as an up and coming elite gymnast. She may not have the biggest skills like some of the other gymnasts, but she’s consistent and clean so look out for her, especially on beam and floor.

Victoria Nguyen - Victoria is one of Chow's up and coming elite gymnasts and she came third on floor at the U.S. Classic. While she has great gymnastics, she has yet to develop consistency. At the Classic, she had several balance checks on beam and bouncy landings on floor, however, she definitely has all the skills in order to score well if she’s clean and hits. Watch out for her beautiful lines on bars, beam and floor. Her teammate Alexis Vasquez, is another one of Chow’s up and coming elites who has yet to show her full potential. She also has beautiful lines, especially on bars, and skill packed routines so look out for her too.

Jazmyn Foberg - Jazmyn made a statement in the elite scene this year at the American Classic where she placed first all-around, even with a few mistakes. She then continued to the U.S. Classic where placed third on vault. She’s got some huge tumbling on floor, opening up with a double layout first pass and tuck full-in third pass. She’s rapidly improved since last year and added many new skills to her routines. Watch out for her because she may be a surprise to many of us.

Deanne Soza - Deanne had a great meet at the U.S. Classic where she placed third in the all-around and on vault, and second on bars. She’s a solid all-around gymnast and has great routines that will score very well. She’s stunning, clean, and sharp with some good connections on beam. Watch out for her great bar routine, she has a tkatchev, ray, beautiful back straddle with half turn and huge full-in double layout dismount. She's definitely impressive for only being a junior.

Ariana Agrapides - Ariana was injured at the Secret Classic this year, but was the last years Junior National Vault Champion. She’s a powerful gymnast and has packed routines. Her mistakes on bars at last year's Championships caused her all-around score to suffer and at the American Classic earlier this year she placed second on bars, but scored low on beam and floor. We have yet to see her consistent on all four events. We hope that despite her absence at the Classic, she has recovered and will deliver the talent that she most definitely has.
