Gruner Top Testing at USAG May Developmental Invite Camp

Team USA’s future World, Olympic, and J.O. National team members gathered at the Karolyi Ranch this week for the May Developmental Invite Camp. These camps are run by Developmental Team Coordinator Valeri Liukin. The gymnasts invited to the camp were members of the TOPs Diamond, A and B National Team. In total there were sixty gymnasts from 27 clubs around the country.
According to USA Gymnastics, the gymnasts were tested on physical abilities the first night of camp. They used the same physical abilities testing as the National Team and Developmental camps. Annie Gruner of Hill’s Gymnastics earned the highest physical abilities score, followed by Carly Beeman of TIGAR Gymnastics. Payton Harris of M&M Gymnastics finished third.
Gruner was the 2014 Level 9 Maryland State Champion on Floor and tied for 4th all around at the Eastern National Championships.
The camps also included coaching education sessions in the form of coaches’ lectures after each training session.
