USA National Team Training Camp Underway


The latest USA National team training camp is underway at the Karolyi Ranch in Huntsville, Texas. The camp began February 21 and will run through February 25.

According to USA Gymnastics, this camp is geared towards finalizing routine construction for the 2014 competition season. National team members and invitied athletes are expected to show nearly full readiness with these routines. Like all training camps, the athletes will test physically abilities and continue to work diligently to improve technique, consistency and artistry.

The first competition on the horizon for Team USA is the March 1 AT&T American Cup, an international World Cup event. Reigning World All Around and Floor Champion Simone Biles of Bannon's and 2013 Stuttgart World Cup all-around champion Elizabeth Price were scheduled to represent Team USA. However, Biles aggravated a shoulder injury early in the training camp and has withdrawn from the competition. USA Gymnastics announced Sunday that Brenna Dowell of GAGE will replace her.
