Soza Tops Testing at Latest USA Developmental Camp

The November Developmental Team camp concluded at USA Gymnastics National Training Center at the Karolyi Ranch, a U.S. Olympic Training site under the direction of Valeri Liukin, Developmental Team Coordinator. Forty athletes and their coaches attended the five day training camp. The camp began with physical abilities. The top three athletes were Deanne Soza of Arete Gymnastics, Gabrielle Perea of Legacy Elite,  and Jax Kranitz of Colorado Aerials Gymnastics Center.

Soza finished 13th on vault in her first appearance at the P&G Championships this summer. Perea also made her junior elite debut in 2013 and was the youngest competitor at the 2013 U.S. Secret Classic. She set herself apart as the only competitor to compete a standing full on beam. Watch here

Maile O'Keefe from Salcianu Academy was honored as "Most improved camper" for the week.  She is coached by Sorin and Tammy Salcianu.

The coaches attended lectures after each training session. The coaches worked diligently with the National Coaching staff on skill selection and routine construction for the upcoming Elite competition season. These gymnasts will return to the ranch in January 2014.
