Germany's next elite star Kim Janas suffered an ACL tear during training and is expected to be out for about a year, German newspaper mz-web reported Tuesday.
Surprisingly, the injury happened during beam training. Janas is just 13 years old and is already one of the stars of the German National Team. Janas will be eligible for senior elite competition in 2015 and her ultimate goal is the 2016 Olympic Games.
This season, Janas represented Germany at the European Youth Olympic Festival. She tied for all around gold with Russia's Maria Kharenkova, but took the silver in a tie-breaker. She earned another silver medal on the floor. At her most recent competition, the Bundesliga Cup, she totaled an impressive 57.450 all around score. That score actually would have placed Janas sixth in the 2013 World All Around Final.
