Gymnastics Australia Names WAG High Performance Manager

Gymnastics Australia (GA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Liz Chetkovich to the role of Women's Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) High Performance Manager (HPM).
Liz has been a significant figure in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics in Australia for many years and is perhaps best known for the key role that she played in building the WAG Program at the Western Australian Institute of Sport (WAIS), arguably Australia’s most sustainably successful state-based high performance (HP) program in the past 10 years.
Chetkovich is thrilled with her appointment and looks forward to meeting the challenges that lie ahead.
"I am thrilled to have been selected to the WAG HP Manager’s position and am enthusiastic about meeting the challenges ahead. In particular I will be focussing on developing a more systematic approach to the operation of each of our of programs and creating a strong HP network," Chetkovich said. "We are fortunate to already have many high quality and dedicated coaches, support staff, administrators and judges who are working with our gymnasts, and I hope to combine with them to contribute positively to achieving the Winning Edge medal targets set for Australian gymnastics.”
Liz will work closely and collaboratively with WAG National Coach – Peggy Liddick – to ensure the efficient and effective, successful and sustainable operation of GA’s WAG National Program. Whereas the WAG National Coach will be responsible for the technical direction and delivery of the WAG National Program, the HPM will be responsible for providing management oversight to GA’s network of state-based national training centers (NTC) including the development, implementation and ongoing administration of HP systems and processes which create alignment across the country.
Under the Federal Government’s ‘Winning Edge’ strategy, GA is expected to contribute significantly to the medal targets which have been set for Australia at World Championships, Commonwealth and Olympic Games. In pursuit of these targets, GA has recognised the opportunity and embraced the need for it to provide stronger leadership within and across its NTC network. Liz’s appointment to the position of HPM will significantly enhance GA’s ability to deliver this for WAG.
