Alexandra Raisman Turns Pro

It's official. Three-time World medalist, Alexandra Raisman of Team USA, has turned professional, signing with Octagon Sports.

Raisman was expected to sign with the University of Florida this week after announcing her intentions to represent the Gators in NCAA competition during the August Visa Championships in this interview. By taking on professional status she has relinquished her NCAA eligibility.

At the 2011 World Championships, Raisman led Team USA to the gold medal, finished fourth all around, and won bronze on floor, but nothing is guaranteed in the Olympic year. To really capitalize on this she must be named to the five person Olympic team for London.

Last month, Raisman's US teammate, good friend, and current World Champion Jordyn Wieber announced her plans to turn professional.

We will likely see Raisman compete in March at the 2012 AT&T American Cup where she will have the opportunity to pocket some prize money.

Today, Raisman and her USA teammates are out in LA doing photo shoots promoting the London Olympics. @TeamRaisman sent us this photo:
