The Weekend Ahead: MetroPlex Challenge and this Week's Biggest NCAA Dual

It's been a busy week here at gymnastike with our 3 meet coverages last weekend, the comeback of 2008 Olympian Chellsie Memmel, our unveiling of training footage from 2010 NCAA Champion Anna Li, and a visit to the Karolyi Ranch which has just been named the newest US Olympic training site. We're pressing on this weekend with three more meet coverages. Here's what you can look for on gymnastike this weekend:
Friday, January 28: #2 Stanford at #4 Utah
This is the biggest matchup of the weekend in NCAA gymnastics and gymnastike contributor Kyle Khou will be there providing full video coverage as the #2 ranked Stanford Cardinal take on #4 Utes. Both teams have scored over 196 this season and it should be a very close dual.

Saturday, January 29th: #6 Alabama, #10 Nebraska, #25 LSU, and Missouri at the 2011 Metroplex Challenge
This is a huge matchup of 4 teams, all of which qualified to NCAA Nationals last season and finished top 12 in the country. This is the first time you're seeing each of these teams on gymnastike this year and it will be an exciting atmosphere, taking place in conjunction with the MetroPlex Challenge, a club meet of about 2000 kids. Bama is on fire right now after having jumped five places in the national rankings this week, following its best score of the season, a 196.325 last Friday. The meet will also be held on a podium, creating a rare postseason atmosphere early in the regular season. Video coverage will be provided by Anne Phillips, Rodney Smith, and Amy Kleefisch.
