The six-time U.S. national champion posted a 59.550 Friday at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, outpacing her 2019 World Championships all-around total by more than half of a point. Sunisa Lee of St. Paul, Minn./Midwest Gymnastics Center (57.350) and Jordan Chiles of Spring, Texas/World Champions Center (56.900) were second and third, respectively.

    Seventeen-year-old gymnast, Jake Whatley’s body was recovered tonight after the teen tried to swim across the Chattahoochee River on Tuesday. Whatley attempted to cross the river with a group of ten swimmers but was lost upstream as emergency crews rushed to rescue him. Eight swimmers made it across safely, and the other was saved by the rescue crew after the individual was found clinging to a rock.

Chio (53.650) finished more than two points ahead of runner-up Ella Murphy of Frisco, Texas/WOGA Gymnastics (51.500) and her WOGA teammate Madray Johnson of Dallas, Texas, who was third with a 51.350.

    INDIANAPOLIS, April 23, 2021 – Claire Pease of Sunnyvale, Texas/WOGA Gymnastics notched the top score on all four apparatus en route to the all-around title in the 11-12 year-old division at the 2021 Hopes Classic Friday in Indianapolis. In the 13-14 year-old division, Myli Lew of Belmont, Calif./San Mateo Gymnastics claimed the high score in the all-around with a competition-high 52.050. Lew also topped the field on the uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise. Carsyn Coleman of Corona, Calif./Precision Gymnastics led the way on vault.
