Florida Women's Basketball Hangs On To Beat Purdue WBB in Bahamas

Aliya Matharu stole the ball with 14 seconds left to thwart a late-game possession by Purdue that helped ice the Florida Women’s Basketball team’s 52-49 win in the third game of the Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championship in Nassau, Bahamas on Nov. 20.

The Gators (4-1) grinded out a defensive showcase against the Boilermakers (2-2). In a game of runs and droughts, Florida overcame a more than five-minute-long fourth-quarter drought to pull away just enough from Purdue. The Boilermakers went more than three minutes without scoring down the stretch as Florida went on a 6-0 run to take the lead.

Matharu led the Gators with 15 points, while Purdue had 14 points from Abbey Ellis.
