After rupturing her Achilles tendon at the 2017 Gymnastics World Championships in Montreal, Larisa Iordache underwent surgery upon returning home to Romania.

Her injury was equal parts shocking and heartbreaking; the incident happened just minutes before women's qualifications as she was warming up a pass of back handsprings on floor. The 21-year-old had to withdraw from the competition and end her dream of world all-around gold before getting to salute even one routine.

Iordache looks to be in good spirits, and she posted on Twitter today about her successful surgery:

Family and friends came to show their love and support:

We're wishing Larisa a speedy and full recovery!
