The P&G Championships kick off at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, from August 17-20 with a combination of Olympians and newcomers on the roster for the men's competition. The men start on Thursday with both juniors and seniors competing, and conclude on Saturday for the second day of competition.

The competition will feature a large field of 79 athletes, made up of both juniors and seniors. Returning Olympians include Alex Naddour of USA Youth Fitness Center, who won the bronze medal on pommel horse at the 2016 Olympics. Naddour's win was the first medal won by a U.S. gymnast on pommel horse since 1984. In addition to competing in 2016 as a member of the five-person team, Naddour was also an alternate for the 2012 Olympic team.

Also competing at P&Gs this year will be Olympian Sam Mikulak of the U.S. Olympic Training Center. Mikulak competed at the 2012 Olympics as a member of the five-person team and contributed on four of the six events: floor, pommel horse, vault, and parallel bars. He helped the team to a fifth-place finish. He also placed fifth in the vault final. Mikulak made the Olympic team once again in 2016 after placing the highest all-around score at Olympic Trials. He again helped the team to a fifth-place finish and competed on every event except rings. Mikulak showed off some nice pommel horse work recently on his Instagram during training - check out his post below from July:

Olympic alternates Akash Modi of Stanford University and Donnell Whittenburg of U.S. Olympic Training Center are also slated to compete at P&Gs this year. At last year's P&Gs, Modi captured the bronze medal on parallel bars. He already has several competitions under his belt this year on both the elite and NCAA scene. He won silver medals in the all-around, on parallel bars and high bar at the Winter Cup, in addition to a bronze in the all-around at the American Cup. Modi also took 1st place in the all-around and on parallel bars at NCAA Championships, in addition to a silver on pommels and a bronze on high bar. Check out Modi's awesome P-bar routine at the American Cup earlier this year, on which he scored a 15.033:

Whittenburg also saw success at the 2017 Winter Cup, winning the bronze medal on still rings. Perhaps his most notable moment so far this year came at the FIG World Challenge Cup in Koper, Slovenia, where he hit his triple pike dismount off still rings, which is now called the "Whittenburg." Check out a video of that routine below:

One of the newcomers to watch for is Yul Moldauer, who won the 2017 American Cup earlier this year as well as the 2017 Winter Cup. At Winter Cup, Moldauer also captured gold medals on still rings and parallel bars and silver medals on floor and vault. Check out his solid P-bar routine from American Cup below:
