Recruiting Breakdown: Gators Add Five For 2018 Season, Big Talent Comes In
The 2018 NCAA gymnastics season is still months away, but it's never too early to get to know the incoming freshman class for each team. Here's a breakdown of the new additions Florida has made for next year.

Florida is coming off a third-place finish at the NCAA championships in April, where LSU just edged the Gators for the second-place spot. They enter the 2018 season with one of the most elite-heavy incoming classes in the country.

Outgoing: Claire Boyce, Ashley Hiller (transfer), Lacy Dagen (transfer)

Florida is in the remarkable position of not having to replace any of last year's competition routines. Boyce, who was coming off a major hip surgery that kept her off the competition floor in 2016, medically retired midway through the season. She competed only a handful of times. Hiller competed as an exhibition once and anchored the floor lineup one time. Dagen competed on vault just once early in the season but missed the rest of the year with a meniscus tear. With so many new faces coming in, competition will be fierce for the six places in each lineup.

Incoming: Jazmyn Foberg, Nicole Webb, Megan Skaggs, Vanasia Bradley, Alyssa Baumann

Jazmyn Foberg

Bayville, NJ
Trains at MG Elite
Coached by Maggie Haney

Foberg opted to join the Gators a year earlier than expected and signed her National Letter of Intent on April 26. She spent much of the 2016 elite season--her first on the senior stage--battling an ankle injury that eventually kept her out of the P&G Championships. She was the 2014 junior national champion and the runner-up to club teammate Laurie Hernandez in 2015. Foberg was a member of the U.S. junior national team from 2014 until turning senior in 2016. The bigger question for Foberg will be how her ankle holds up to the weekly grind of college gymnastics after she had surgery last summer.

Nicole Webb

Morrisville, North Carolina
Trains at Sonshine Gymnastics (Previous gym of UF rising senior Rachel Slocum)
Coached by Milan and Heidi Stanovich

Like Foberg, Webb is also graduating early to join the Gators for the 2018 season. Webb was third on balance beam at the 2017 Region 8 championships. She finished second on beam and fifth on floor exercise at the North Carolina state championships in 2017 as well. She competed at the 2015 JO National Championships, where she was second on balance beam.

Megan Skaggs

Marietta, Georgia
Trains at Gymnastics Academy of Georgia
Coached by Irina Podgornaya and Jacobo Giron

Skaggs is a former U.S. elite who was a member of the U.S senior national team during the 2014-15 season. She made her international debut at the City of Jesolo Trophy competition in 2015, where she won gold in the team competition. Skaggs, along with current Gators Rachel Gowey and Amelia Hundley, was a member of the U.S. team that won gold at the Pan American Games. She won an individual silver medal on balance beam as well. Skaggs ended her elite career in March 2016 and competed as a Level 10 during the past season. She competed at the 2017 Georgia state championships in mid-March, finishing first on both vault (9.900) and uneven bars (9.725) plus fourth on vault. She did not compete on floor.

Bradley was on the elite path in 2013 when she qualified as a junior international elite. She finished 11th in the all-around at the 2013 P&G national championships as a junior and was second on vault. Bradley missed the 2014 and 2015 seasons due to injury. She finished seventh in the all-around at the 2016 Michigan state championships with top five finishes on vault (tied for fifth) and uneven bars (tied for third).

Alyssa Baumann

Plano, Texas
Trains at WOGA
Coached by Laurent and Cecile Landi

Baumann was slated to compete for the Gators during the 2017 season before suffering a major elbow injury in training that knocked her out of the Olympic Trials last summer. She was a member of the 2014 gold medal-winning squad at the world championships for Team USA. Baumann was a four-time U.S. national team member, including one season as a junior in 2013-14 and three seasons as a senior elite (2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17). She finished eighth in the all-around at the 2016 P&G championships, including a fourth-place finish on balance beam. She tied for seventh in the all-around at nationals in 2015 and was fourth in the all-around at the 2014 national championships, her first as a senior elite. She finished second on balance beam at both the 2014 and 2015 national championships while also finishing fourth on floor in 2014.
