2017 NCAA All-Around Title Up For Grabs
As the best teams in the country clamor for spots in this weekend's Super Six, the individual all-around title will also be up for grabs to open the NCAA Championships in St. Louis on Friday.

Oklahoma's Maggie Nichols enters as a heavy favorite to win the all-around crown, but there is a talented field of gymnasts that will be looking to deny the 19-year-old freshman from claiming her first NCAA title.

Let's take a look at some of the top all-around contenders in this year's competition.

null

Maggie Nichols (Oklahoma)

Season High: 39.925
Nichols is the clear favorite the win the all-around title this weekend due to her outstanding talent and consistency. She has been ranked No. 1 in the all-around all season long, despite sitting out a couple weeks to rest for the postseason. Nichols has the ability to go 9.95-plus on every event, giving her an edge on the rest of the competition. Although just a freshman, Nichols has shown impeccable consistency this season with a 39.789 average.

null

MyKayla Skinner (Utah)

Season High: 39.775
Skinner is another freshman who has shown great consistency and impressive talent this season. She will be a gymnast to watch closely, as she will look to take any advantage if Nichols opens the door. Skinner can capitalize on vault and floor, where she has huge difficulty and 9.95-plus potential. Skinner will not only look to boost her team to the Super Six but also bring home the all-around title in her freshman season.

null

Alex McMurtry (Florida)

Season High: 39.70
McMurtry will be a contender for the all-around as well due to her impeccable form and ability to stick. McMurtry is another gymnast who has the ability to score 9.95-plus on multiple events, scoring a perfect 10 on three different events this season (vault, bars, and floor). She does not have a weak event, and she hasn't scored under a 9.90 on any event in weeks. McMurtry may have the advantage of knowing the score to beat from the afternoon session, as she competes in the evening session.

null

Kiana Winston (Alabama)

Season High: 39.70
Winston has been a consistent and strong all-around competitor for the Crimson Tide all year. Winston is another gymnast who has no weak event and can post a strong score on all four events, with great strength on bars, beam, and floor. With a 9.96 start value on vault, she will need to bring her best (Yurchenko full) to prelims if she hopes to win the all-around title. Winston has also scored a 10.0 on floor this season, so look for her to go big in the evening session.

null

Chayse Capps (Oklahoma)

Season High: 39.70
Capps is always a gymnast to watch in the all-around due to her beautiful lines and grace on all four events. Her biggest competitor might be her own teammate, Nichols, but look for Capps to finish her senior season with a bang as she aims for the all-around title. Capps has proven to be a contender in the all-around her entire career and is capable of a big score on all four events.

null

Madison Kocian (UCLA)

Season High: 39.625
Kocian is another strong freshman with outstanding talent in the all-around. She will need to be at her best to win the title but has the capability to impress and win. Kocian will look to capitalize on her strong bar routine to help boost her all-around score. The Olympic champion will look to set new career highlights at her first NCAA Championships by making a big splash in the all-around.
