November U.S. National Team Training Camp Begins Today

The final U.S. National Team Training Camp of 2016 begins today, November 30, at the Karolyi Ranch in Huntsville, Texas.

November U.S. National Team Training Camp Begins Today
The final U.S. National Team Training Camp of 2016 begins today, November 30, at the Karolyi Ranch in Huntsville, Texas. The five-day camp will be led by USA Gymnastics' women's national team coordinator Valeri Liukin and 28 gymnasts are expected to be in attendance.

The focus of the camp is to "continue to provide guidance for proper execution and finalize routine composition for the first half of the 2017 competitive season." The first meets in 2017 that the U.S. women are expected to participate in include the International Gymnastics Federation all-around World Cup series as well as the City of Jesolo Trophy in March. As usual, the camp will begin with physical abilities testing and gymnasts will later verify routines broken into parts on each event.

U.S. Olympic Team alternate Ragan Smith is expected to return to camp for the first time since before the Olympics. Many of the members of the Final Five have been making media appearances and have not yet returned to training, including Laurie Hernandez who recently won the TV Show "Dancing With the Stars". All five gymnasts have expressed their interest in training for the Tokyo 2020 games.
