Nationals in an Olympic year always shows us some of the best gymnastics. We see gymnasts at their peak difficulty level aiming to impress Martha Karolyi with just a few weeks left before the Olympic Trials.

While the gymnasts with the highest difficulty levels are always top of mind, it’s also important to consider execution. We took a look at who had the top execution on each event at P&Gs last weekend and broke it down below.

The Best All Around

The gymnast who had the best execution across all four events was Simone Biles. In particular, she scored a huge 9.9 on her Amanar on the second day of competition. Check out this amazing vault below, which she nearly sticks:

Biles also scored the best execution on both floor and beam. On floor, she scored a 9.2 on Day 1—largely thanks to multiple stuck landings—in addition to her usual excellent form in the air on tumbling and leaps. On beam, Biles tied Aly Raisman and Laurie Hernandez for the top execution score of 8.9 on the first day of competition. Bars was the only event on which Biles did not net the top E-score, but she tied for second with Madison Kocian with a 9.0 on Day 1.

The Second-Best All Around

Biles was not the only gymnast to score well on execution in all four events; Laurie Hernandez also scored within the top three for E-scores on all four events. Her best event was beam, where she tied Biles and Raisman with an 8.9 E-score, but what's even more noteworthy is she scored this on both days of competition. Hernandez scored the second-highest execution on vault for her double twisting Yurchenko, which notched a 9.25 on Day 1.

On bars, Hernandez scored the third-highest E-score, an 8.9, which she achieved on Day 1. She also tied Gabby Douglas and Madison Kocian for the third-highest E-score on floor, an 8.8, which she achieved on the second day of competition.

The Best on the Power Events

Aly Raisman also had some of the best execution in the group. She landed in the top three on her three best events, including the power events of vault and floor. On vault, she tied Alyssa Baumann for the third-best E-score, a 9.2, which she got on the second day of competition. She tied Biles and Hernandez on beam to score an 8.9 on Day 2—check out her solid routine below:

Unsurprisingly, Raisman also scored well on floor. She notched a 9.1 on Day 2, just behind Biles’ high of 9.2.

The Best on Bars

Ashton Locklear maintained her reputation of having the best execution on bars. She scored a 9.2 on the second day of competition, ahead of Kocian who tied Biles with a 9.0. Locklear also made an impression on beam, where she scored the third-highest E-score of 8.65.

Honorable Mentions

Gabby Douglas and Madison Kocian each scored in the top three on two events for execution. Douglas performed a great beam routine on Day 2 of competition by scoring the second-highest execution (behind the Biles/Raisman/Hernandez tie) with an 8.85. She also did well on floor on Day 1, scoring an 8.8 to tie Hernandez and Kocian for the third-best.

In addition to Kocian showing she can score well on floor, she also scored highly on her best event, bars. She notched the second highest E-score of 9.0 on Day 2, which tied with Biles.
