In the final day of competition at the 2016 Osijek World Challenge Cup, Paul Ruggeri came out with the silver medal in both the vault and high bar finals and Sean Melton earned bronze on parallel bars.

OSIJEK, Croatia, May 1, 2016 – U.S. athletes won three medals on the final day of competition at the 2016 Osijek World Challenge Cup in Osijek, Croatia. 2015 World team member Paul Ruggeri of Manlius, N.Y./Team Hilton (U.S. Olympic Training Center) finished second in the vault and horizontal bar final, while Sean Melton of Orlando /Ohio State University picked up bronze on the parallel bars.

On the high bar, Ruggeri won the silver medal with a score of 15.050. He finished behind Umit Samiloglu of Turkey, who posted a 15.225, to take the gold. Croatia’s Tin Srbic won the bronze, earning a 14.700. Ruggeri also finished second in the vault final. He earned scores of 14.950 and 14.725, giving him an average score of 14.838. Ukraine’s Oleg Verniaev scored a 15.325 to win the gold medal, while teammate Igor Radivilov earned the bronze (14.725). Steven Legendre of Port Jefferson, N.Y./Team Hilton (University of Oklahoma), was seventh with a 14.450.

Melton scored a 14.875 to win the bronze medal on parallel bars. Russia’s Emim Garibov took the gold medal with a 15.750. Cuba’s Manrique Larduet was second (15.474).

Ruggeri and Legendre shared the bronze medal on floor exercise on the first day of event finals.
