Aly Raisman Shares Wisdom On Worlds
Aly Raisman faced huge disappointment at 2015 World Championships in Glasgow when she missed out on the all-around final due to an uncharacteristic qualifications performance. Raisman, known for her steady, consistent routines under pressure, found herself out of bounds on floor, on the ground in the middle of her bar routine, and unable to control a giant Amanar. Even after several mistakes, Raisman still ended up fifth out of 184 qualifications all-arounders competitors--an incredible accomplishment by any standard, expect possibly her own.

Amidst frustration, there are always lessons to be learned. Raisman said she didnÂ’t feel like herself that day and addresses some of the root issues of her tough night in a recent article by ESPNW. Even for a decorated Olympian, the mental aspect of gymnastics can be the most difficult part. Raisman gives insight into her world with four things she learned about herself through her Worlds disappointment.

1. I need to do it for myself.
2. I can look to others who've been there before.
3. Relaxation techniques can really help.
4. Every meet is a learning experience - if you let it be one.

Here's what Aly tweeted about the article:

Raisman showed mental toughness and bounced back strong after qualifications. She performed in her usual stellar way when it truly counted for Team USA and earned the gold medal that mattered to her most. With her leadership, difficulty, and incredible skills, Raisman continues to be one of the top Rio contenders.
