Men's Results: Stanford upsets Oklahoma
...

Oklahoma has remained undefeated and ranked number one all season but tonight at the 2014 Metroplex, third ranked Stanford claimed first over OU 445.15 to 442.4. Arizona State took third with a 404.95, a season high for them. Stanford's score was a season high for them as well and they are the only team other than Oklahoma to score higher than a 445 this year.

Akash Modi of Stanford is ranked first in all-around but only competed four events tonight. However, he won two of those events scoring a 15.15 on pommel horse for first and a 15.05 on parallel bars for first.
Colin Van Wicklen of Oklahoma won floor with a 15.55. Michael Squires of Oklahoma won rings with a huge 16.1 and is currently ranked second in the nation on this event. Sean Sentors of Stanford took first on vault with a 15.15. Stanton Rehkemper of Oklahoma took first on high bar with a 15.35. Oklahoma freshman Allan Bower took the all-around title with an 87.8 in his second meet competing all-around this season.

Stanford was behind in the first two rotations but with a solid showing on every single event, they were able to outscore the Sooners. Stanford's floor score, 75.8, was their highest score this season. They also set a team season high on rings with a 75.55, lead by Dennis Zaremski's 15.8. Stanford also scored a huge 74.6 on high bar with three scores above a 15. This high bar score is the second highest in the nation this year, Ohio State scored a rare 75.1 at Michigan two weekends ago.

While Oklahoma had some shinning moments, they also struggled and weren't able to pull out the win. On floor they scored a huge 76.5, the second highest team floor score in the nation this season, only below their 76.55 last weekend at home. Oklahoma finished on parallel bars where they had some uncharacteristic struggles and totaled a 70.35, their lowest parallel bars score of the year.

Oklahoma triumphs in record breaking night
...
Oklahoma was on fire tonight at the 2014 Metroplex Challenge and took first with a huge 198.175. LSU was second with a school-record 197.875, Arizona took third with a 195.625, and Kentucky was fourth with a 194.85. There were three incredible perfect 10 routines by Rheagan Courville on Vault, Lloimincia Hall on floor, and Haley Scaman on floor.

Rheagan Courville won the all-around with an incredible 39.75, Kaleigh Dickson was second with a 39.425, and Allie Flores of Arizona placed third with a 39.175.

Oklahoma's team score is the highest for any team this season and the second highest score in program history. Scaman's 10 was also her first perfect score ever. Oklahoma started out with a bang on vault with a big 49.475 lead by Scaman's 9.95. The Sooners moved on to bars where they scored a season high of a 49.575. Mackenzie Wofford anchored bars and received a 9.975 which tied for first place. On beam they had a fall but where able to drop that score and still received a 49.5 lead by Chayse Capps' 9.975. The Sooners were in the lead heading into their last event but knew that LSU was close behind. Taylor Spears lead off with a 9.825 and every score was equal to or higher than the one before and they ended with Scaman's 10.

LSU started with a huge 49.6 on bars, a season record and the second best team bars score in school history. The Tigers hit every routine and stuck every single dismount. Sarie Morrison anchored and scored a 9.975. On beam they finished with a 49.3, only .025 behind their season high. On floor they had an uncharacteristic fall but were able to rally and Hall achored with her 10 routine. They finished with huge momentum on vault and ended with Courville's 10.

Arizona was consistent on all four events and while they didn't have to count a fall, they weren't able to keep up with Oklahoma or LSU and ended up third.

While Kentucky claimed their highest team bars score of the season, a 49.05, they struggled on beam and had to count a 9.375 for a 48.1 total. While there were some mishaps, there were also some bright moments- Marissa Beucler scored a 9.9 on bars and Kayla Hartley anchored floor for a 9.9 as well.
