Continuing our series of preseason updates on the top NCAA Division I teams, this week we're taking a look at UCLA. The Bruins had a great season last year and made it to the Super Six finals for the first time since 2013.

A few of their top performers graduated this past year, such as Danusia Francis, Sophina DeJesus, and Sadiqua Bynum. However, UCLA has more than enough freshmen coming in to make up for the losses. Nine newcomers have joined the team this year, including Olympians Kyla Ross and Madison Kocian.

In training, we've seen huge upgrades from the Bruins so far, suggesting that this upcoming season may be one of their best yet. Check out our summary below of UCLA's preseason training:

Did someone say Omelianchik?

Last season, the Bruins only had two 10.0 vaults in their lineup -- a Yurchenko Arabian from Bynum, and a Yurchenko 1 1/2 from Pua Hall. This year, the team appears to be training lots of upgraded vaults, including the Omelianchik -- round-off, 1/2 on, front double pike off. Hall, Ross, and Katelyn Ohashi have all been seen training this vault. Senior Angi Cipra, juniors JaNay Honest and Sonya Meraz, and freshmen Gracie Kramer and Felicia Hano have also been training 10.0 vaults -- the Yurchenko 1 1/2. Hano has also been seen training the Yurchenko double. Check out the video clip below of vault training back in September:

A few Olympians for the bars lineup

UCLA struggled a bit on bars last year. As a team, the Bruins are ranked No. 12 in the country, their lowest across all four events. That should change for this upcoming season, however, especially with the addition of a few Olympians to their lineup who are known for their work on bars. In addition to UCLA's existing lineup of stars such as Ohashi and Peng Peng Lee, the Bruins will likely add Ross and Kocian to the lineup as well. We have also caught a sneak peek of an upgrade from Meraz, who has been training a Ray release move. Check out a clip of the upgrade below:

Continuing their reign as Beam Queens

The Bruins have always been really strong on beam, and they have showed some impressive moves so far in training. Freshmen Ross, Kocian, Hano, and Grace Glenn will likely compete for spots in the beam lineup. Both Ross and Kocian have trained a beautiful combo of a front aerial to sheep jump, and all the freshmen have been solid in their tumbling series of back handspring to layout step-out. We also caught a glimpse of a unique combo from Lee recently on her Instagram, where she was practicing a Barani to back pike dismount. Check it out below:

That floor choreography though…

Everyone looks forward to seeing what the Bruins have in store on floor exercise every year. Not only do their gymnasts compete impressive tumbling, but coach Valorie Kondos Field's choreography is always so unique. Check out a recent clip from Honest's routine, where timing is everything:

In addition to the great choreo, we can also look forward to some big, E-level tumbling. Both Ohashi and Hano have been training double layouts, and Glenn is working on a front double full into an immediate floor split. Check out a clip of that crazy pass below:
