Georgia Works to Replace Star Seniors with Impressive Preseason Training
This week, we're taking a look at preseason training updates from the Georgia GymDogs, who have provided some impressive footage of recent practices on their Twitter and Snapchat, plus some bonus clips from the gymnasts' personal Instagram accounts. Georgia has some tough shoes to fill this upcoming season after having to say goodbye to a stellar senior class - most notably Brandie Jay, Brittany Rogers and Mary Beth Box, who contributed on all four events between them. The team have three freshmen joining this year, in addition to gymnasts who have recovered from previous injuries, leaving lots of lineup options. Check out our updates from each event below.

New Faces & an Upgrade on Vault

On vault, Jay and Rogers were two big contributors, both competing 10.0 vaults. Fortunately, Georgia is looking to add another 10.0 vault into the mix from sophomore Sydney Snead, who has been training a Yurchenko 1 ½ this year. Junior Gigi Marino, who competed a 1 ½ last year, is continuing to train this vault as well.

Another potential vaulter this year for the GymDogs is senior Morgan Reynolds. Reynolds was out for much of last season due to illness, and she hasn't competed vault since her freshman season, but she has been training a clean Yurchenko full this year. We might also see freshman Rachel Dickson in the lineup, also training a Yurchenko full. Check out a clip from a recent training session below:

Replacing Jay & Rogers on Bars

As with vault, the GymDogs will be looking to replace the top routines from Rogers and Jay for the upcoming season. We got a sneak peak on Snapchat recently from a team intrasquad and saw some impressive bar work. Snead, who was in the lineup last year, is continuing to train her beautiful Tkatchev and double layout dismount. Also training a double layout was senior Lauren Johnson, who competed bars a handful of times last season. Freshman Jordyn Pederson is also training bars and showed off a nice, stuck double front dismount.

In addition to the intrasquad footage, we've also seen some bits of training from the summer. Reynolds, who has not competed on bars for the GymDogs yet, was training a Jaeger to shoot-over back in July, and junior Natalie Vaculik, who was in the lineup last year, was training a Maloney. Check out Vaculik's video below from her summer training:

Series Galore on Beam

As with the other three events, Georgia will need to replace Rogers and Jay in the beam lineup this year, but they'll also need to replace their anchor, Box. We got a recent sneak peak into the team training their tumbling series via Instagram. Vaculik is continuing to train her series from last year - back-handspring, layout step-out, as is Ashlyn Broussard with her 1-arm back-handspring to layout step-out, and Vivi Babalis with her front aerial to layout-step out.

New faces in the traning include freshman Sabrina Vega, who was always a beautiful beam worker in her elite days. Vega is currently training a back-handspring to layout step-out. Reynolds, who has not competed beam since her sophomore season, is training the same series. Lastly, Snead did not compete beam last year (the only event she didn't compete on), but she performed a back-handspring, layout step-out, back-handspring in training. Bringing the E's on Floor

We haven't seen too much training footage from Georgia on floor, however we have seen some of the gymnasts training impressive E-level passes. As far as the potential lineup goes, Reynolds, Babalis and Marino will likely return this year. We may also see Snead in the lineup again - she competed floor for almost the entire season last year.

Marino, who competed a double layout as her opening pass last season, was also training a piked full-in back in July, which we saw from her Instagram. Reynolds was also training a few E-level passes over the summer, including a double layout and a double arabian (she competed a double pike as her first pass last year). Check out Reynolds' double layout from her Instagram below:
