Getting In The Zone: The 3 Keys to Being A Coachable Gymnast
Doc Ali’s Tight Mind Monday FLASHBACK: How to Be Coachable in the Gym
One of the most important aspects of being mentally tough is being coachable. Being coachable means really taking in all your coaches have to offer every practice. This week Mental Toughness Monday’s with Doc Ali looks at three important aspects of being a coachable athlete.
Commit 100% to your coach's corrections
Many times athletes are either afraid to break out of a comfort zone and make the correction or they have already decided in their mind that the correction won’t work. This week over-correct. Break out of bad habits, trust your coach, and go for the correction ALL-OUT.Have coachable body language
Respectful body language in the gym means good eye contact when given corrections, confident body language, and open communication with coaches.Communicate. Communicate. Communicate.
Your coaches want to know what’s going on with you. Share with them when you are hurting, if you are confused about a correction or assignment, or if you simply want to share what’s happening in your life in and out of the gym. This week, be the most coachable athlete on the floor! Pick one of the aspects above and focus on it each day of practice. Impress your coaches with how eager you are for corrections and watch how your gymnastics improves!
