Recruiting 101: How to Connect with College Coaches

null

After you research the college gymnastics teams, you will want to connect with the coaches. Below are four ways to reach out and get to know the coach, team and university. Before you put these into action, I recommend you plan ahead, be organized and do these items with confidence.

The college coach does not expect you to be perfect by any means, but their schedules are busy. You need to be efficient and now ahead of time exactly what you want to communicate, sometimes these opportunities  can be your only shot at making a great impression.

1.  Email
2.  Unofficial Visits
3.  Summer Camps
4.  Direct Phone Calls

All of these ways of making contact are important.  In the coming weeks I plan to break each area down and give you very specific ideas and things to do to make your recruiting process successful.

Jill Hicks has an advising and consulting business for parents and gymnasts. She will be offering an online course she has designed for the parent and gymnast who wants to know more about the college gymnastics recruiting process. This course has 10 modules and a workbook for the gymnast to fill out as she listens to each module. If you would like more information, email Jill at jill@jhicksconsulting.com.
