The University Park regional was a nail biter, especially at the end. Florida finished 1st with a score of 197.050. #15 Penn State narrowly beat out #12 Oregon State for runner up with a score of 196.725 to 196.525.

The Gators had to overcome a number of mistakes on balance beam and floor exercise. “Our competition tonight was off”, coach Rhonda Faehn said, “it was not what we’re capable of, but we started out well and finished well.”

Notable mistakes include falls on beam by Bridget Sloan and Mackenzie Caquatto, a fall on bars by Kytra Hunter, and a fall on floor by Bridgette Caquatto.

“I think tonight, we just came in here and it was a bit of an off day, but we are all human and we all do make mistakes Sloan said, “it goes to show that, again, we’re not robots, at the same time we have some things we can work on.” Other than beam, Sloan had an efficient night, finishing 1st in vault and bars, 2nd in floor.

Florida rebounded well after beam by posting a 49.375 on floor and a 49.550 on vault to take the lead for good on their last rotation.

The Gators finished first in vault and bars. Alaina Johnson of the Gators finished first in the all around with a score of 39.55. With Florida taking first place, it was between Penn State and Oregon State to take second place.

Oregon State was one-tenth of a point ahead of Penn State going into the last rotation. Beavers were on balance beam and the Nittany Lions were on floor. Oregon State came up with a 49.125 and 1^st place finish on beam. Penn State finished with a 49.425 on floor. When Krystal Welsh finished Penn State’s floor routine, the home crowd roared with excitement.

“At the beginning of the season, I don’t think people expected a lot from us and we had graduated some superstars, coach Thompson said. “This just speaks volumes to how much they believe each other, the coaches and the system. I think they just went out there and had a lot of fun tonight and it paid off.”

Penn State’s Sidney Sanabria-Robles finished third overall with a score of 39.375. The Nittany Lions bounced back from their 5th place finish in the Big Ten Championships. “I don’t think we changed much, I think we just knew what was at stake and what our goal was, and just did it,” Sanabria-Robles said.

Chelsea Tang of Oregon State did her best to propel her team by finishing 2nd in the all around with 39.475 and a 2nd place finish in beam. Madeline Gardiner finished 4th in the all around with a 39.350.

Kentucky had encouraging performances on floor and beam, finishing 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Audrey Harrison of the Wildcats finished 6^th in the all around with 39.300.
