Verniaiev wins DTB World Cup
...

After a disappointing showing at World Championships, Oleg Verniaiev of Ukraine delivered a stellar performance to win the men's all around title at the 2013 DTB World Cup in Stuttgart ahead of reigning World All Around bronze medalist Fabian Hambuechen of Germany. With a score of 92.165, Verniaiev won the all around title by nearly two points. British Olympian Daniel Purvis finished in 3rd.

Impressively, Verniaiev posted scores over 15 on all six events highlighted by a 15.500 on rings and scores of 15.466 on pommel horse and parallel bars. He was part of the 2012 Ukrainian men's Olympic team that finished 4th in London and won all around bronze at the 2013 European Championships.
The 20-year-old Ukrainian entered the 2013 World Championships as a favorite for an all around medal, but a disappointing performance left him in 15th place. This win marks the first World Cup title for Verniaiev and likely serves as redemption from Antwerp.

Watch Verniaiev's 15.466 on parallel bars:

Team USA's John Orozco competed the all around in international competition for the first time since the 2012 Olympic Games and finished in 5th place. Orozco's highest score came on the pommel horse where he posted a 15.266. Orozco has been coming back from major knee surgery after tearing his ACL last fall but won the 2013 World bronze medal on parallel bars. Coincidentally, a mistake on p bars left Orozco out of the medals in Stuttgart, but he shows room for improvement in the upcoming Glasgow World Cup.

In the women's competition, Elizabeth Price of Parkettes and Team USA successfully defended her all around title from last year, edging out 2013 World floor bronze medalist Larissa Iordache of Romania. Click here for recap and results from the women's competition

The DTB World Cup is part of the International Gymnastics Federation's all-around World Cup series. This same group of athletes is scheduled to compete at the Glasgow World Cup on Saturday, December 7 in Glasgow, Great Britain and you can follow event coverage from Glasgow on Gymnastike.
