Alexis Vasquez of Chow's on beam at 2012 J.O. National Championships

Chow's Gymnastics and Dance athletes Alexis Vasquez, Norah Flatley, and Rachel Gowey posted the top three compulsory scores at today's National Elite Qualifier at Parkettes Gymnastics in Allentown, PA.

Vasquez, competing in the junior elite age group, earned the top score of the day for any age division with an incredible 37.500, easily besting the 35.00 qualification requirement for junior and senior elite. Vasquez delivered scores in the 9's on every event highlighted by a 9.60 on beam.

Flatley was close behind with a 37.225 thanks to a 9.70 on beam, her best event.

Gowey, one of just two gymnasts competing in the senior elite division, totaled a 36.850 to win her division, place 3rd overall, and easily pass the dreaded elite compulsory test.

In the Hopes (pre-elite) division,
Jasmine Vallejo of Precision Gymnastics in California topped the 12-13 age division. Olivia Dunne of ENA Paramus won the 10-11 age division. Both gymnasts earned identical passing scores of 34.275.

All new elites are required to pass compulsory testing and earn the specified optional score for their age division in order to earn international elite status.

Elite qualifying competition at Parkettes will conclude Saturday with two sessions of optional competition.

Athletes are hoping to not only qualify for elite but also looking to attain qualifying scores to advance to the 2013 Secret U.S. Classic, held July 27 in Chicago.
