Penn Tops Yale in Dual Meet
...
NEW HAVEN, CONN. – It’s always tough to get that first victory of the season, but the Penn gymnastics team accomplished that feat in its first dual meet of the season on Sunday. The Quakers traveled to New Haven, Conn. to face Yale, and topped the Bulldogs 191.525-187.900  – Penn placed first in every single event. Finishing one and two in the all-around once again were seniors Dana Bonincontri and Kirsten Strausbaugh.

Bonincontri placed first on vault, bars, and beam – her 9.800 on beam was a season-high – and also tied teammate Kaitlyn Reszkowski for third on floor. Her scores totaled 38.850, which was good enough for her second all-around victory of the season, and her second consecutive as well.

Strausbaugh placed first on floor with a season-high 9.825, tied Bonincontri for first on bars, and scored a season-high on vault for fourth place. Her all-around total was 38.200, which placed her right behind Bonincontri for second.

Elyse Shenberger shined once again, as the freshmen set career-highs in two of her three events, placing fifth on vault and fourth on floor. Additionally, Shenberger placed third on beam with a 9.675.

The Red and Blue will be back on the mat on Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. when they take their longest road trip of the season to Muncie, Ind. to face Ball State.
