Results from the June 2011 Florida elite qualifier optional competition



Competition concluded today in Florida, here are the final results for the optional elite qualifier sessions.

First, here is a rundown of the qualifying scores to both the Classic in July and Championships in August. USAG changed the ruling this year to where a gymnast may only qualify to Championships at the Classic, or US National team members at a training camp or an international assignment. 

OPTIONAL SCORES to Qualify to Classics or Challenge:
Senior International: 53.00 AA at a 2011 Qualifier, NT camp, or at 2010 US Championships
 or 3 Event=40.5, 2 Event =27.5
Junior International: 51.00 AA at a 2010 Championships, 2011 National Qualfiers, or at training camp
Junior Pre-Elite ages 13-14: 49.00 at National Qualifier or training camp
Junior Pre-Elite ages 11-12: 48.00 at National Qualifier or training camp
Hopes ages 12: 48.00 at Qualifier
Hopes age 10-1147.00 at Qualifier

The high score of the session went to AA Champ Ashley Foss on beam with 14.30 (5.5/8.80). There was a 3-way tie for the vault title; Alex Marks, Mikayla Magee, and Dominiquea Trotter all scored 13.650. Bridget Dean of Orlando Metro won bars, the only event she competed. Shannon McNatt won floor with 13.30 (4.80/8.50).

Maggie Nichols won vault with a yurchenko 1.5 scoring 14.70, while Texas Dreams swept the other 3 event titles: Dare Maxwell won bars with 14.30 (5.40/8.90), Nica Hults and Reagan Campbell tied for first on beam with 14.650 (5.90/8.75), and Kiana Winston returns after missing last season with an ACL tear and won the floor title, 13.80 (5.30/8.50)

Only the above 5 gymnasts competed all around in this session. Pua Hall won vault with 14.350, Aja Sims of Brandy Johnson's only competed on uneven bars but won the event with 14.250 (5.30/8.95). Claire Boyce won both beam (14.95 5.90/9.050) and floor (14.50 5.70/8.80). 

The 2 WOGA girls competed in a junior session so their scores did not count for placements in the senior division, but they both qualified:
1 Grace McLaughlin - WOGA - 55.45
2  Jessica Howe - WOGA - 53.00
Grace McLaughlin's high score came on beam with a 14.65 (5.40/9.250).
