It was a busy weekend in the gymnastics world with Team USA competing in Italy, a huge international competition taking place in France, and all of the NCAA women's Conference Championships! Here's a recap of all the action.

The USA women dominated the competition in Jesolo. They faced Italy and Russia, though the Russians did not send their best performers as they also had a team competing in France.

The Americans won both the junior and senior team titles and swept the all around in both divisions. The junior women outscored the seniors led by a huge all around performance of all around champion Kyla Ross who posted a 58.750. Word it that Ross has verified an Amanar vault at camp and judging by the score it seems she may have competed it. Still awaiting a video.

The top Russian gymnast by no surprise was Anastasia Grishina who won the junior uneven bars title with a 15.10 and placed 5th all around.

In the senior division, McKayla Maroney defeated American Cup Champion Jordyn Wieber in her senior debut. Maroney totaled a 57.850 all around, Wieber was close behind with 57.70, and Alexandra Raisman finished 3rd with 57.40. Maroney competed a near-perfect amanar vault to score 16.00 and take the vault title. Weiber earned the silver for her 15.950 amanar vault. Bridgey Caquatto won the bars title with a 14.50. Raisman won beam with 14.75 and tied for the gold medal on floor with teammate Sabrina Vega with 14.050.

In the junior division, Madison Kocian finished 2nd to Ross in the all around with a 57.75 and Katelyn Ohashi was 3rd with 57.70. Lexie Priessman won vault with a 15.75, Grishina of Russia won bars, Kyla Ross beat out Russian Anastasia Sidorova by half a tenth for the beam title (14.85), and Sidorva was again beat out by half a tenth for the floor title by Ohashi who scored a 14.050

There was another huge international competition taking place in France this weekend, the French International in Bercy. This was an event finals meet with the top 4 gymnasts from qualifications on each event advancing to the Finals.

World Champion Aliya Mustafina had another strong showing, winning 3 of 4 events on the women's side. She won vault with a 14.933, bars with a 15.733, beam with a 14.866 (a full point ahead of World Beam Champion Ana Porgras who scored 13.80 for 2nd). Sanra Izbasa won floor with a 14.833.

On the men's side Enrique Thomas Gonzalez Sepulveda of Chile won both floor (15.466) and vault (16.10) with Flavius Koczi of Romania finishing just behind the Chilean on both events. Louis Smith of Britain won pommel horse with 15.70, Chen Yibing of China captured yet another Rings title with 15.933, and Mitja Petkovsek won parallel bars with 15.80 ahead of defending World Champion Feng Zhe (15.633). On high bar, American Danell Leyva qualified with the top score, 15.866, with this routine. But in the final Epke Zonderland edged him out for the gold with a start value of 7.30, 3 tenths higher than Leyva's and a total of 15.966. Leyva scored a 15.566 in the final.
