    Canadian superstar Ellie Black successfully defended her 2015 Pan American Games all-around title as she finished ahead of silver medalist Riley McCusker and bronze medalist Flavia Saraiva of Brazil in the 2019 Pan American Games women's all-around competition in Lima, Peru. On the men's side, Brazil and Canada dominated as Caio Souza won the title and teammate Arthur Mariano took silver ahead of Canadian Cory Paterson.

    In her first competition since winning team gold at the 2018 World Championships in October, Riley McCusker won all-around silver at the 2018 Birmingham World Cup. She finished just a few tenths behind gold medalist, Russian superstar and two-time Olympian Aliya Mustafina. Rounding out the podium was Brazil's Thais Fidelis.

    Riley McCusker's 2019 season is set to begin the same way her 2017 season did: at a World Cup. About six months after competing at her first major international competition, McCusker is set to make her 2019 debut at the Birmingham World Cup. In 2017, she made her senior elite debut at the American Cup. Hopefully, that's as far as the parallels will go for McCusker's 2019 competition season.

Russia and China had mistakes of their own but were still able to win the silver and bronze medals, respectively. By finishing in the top three at team finals, USA, Russia, and China have qualified full teams to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
