The 2021 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships will be held in Kitakyushu, Japan, from October 18–24, 2021. The Men's world-championship trials are September 14-19 at the Colorado Springs Olympic and Paralympic Training Center.

After Sunisa Lee won the Tokyo Olympic All-Around gold medal, people started talking about Jess Graba, one of her two elite coaches at Midwest Gymnastics, alongside Alison Lim. With Tokyo 2020 games behind us, many avid gymnastic fans are finding themselves in a bout of post-Olympic depression. Fans are usually left with a void of international events immediately following an Olympic year. This year is different.

There’s nothing like being in an arena when Simone Biles's name is announced. Saving her Double Pike Yurchenko for the Olympics, Biles pulled out her Cheng and Amanar for the night. The vault began with the Cheng with a ridiculously far landing and ended with a stratospheric Amanar, scoring 15.66. She finished with a 60.565, the highest score since World's qualification 2018!

NCAA gymnastics gained more recognition in the past years in large part thanks to some memorable college routines going viral. The first routine to really go viral was LSU Gymnast  Lloimincia Hall's floor routine in 2014, but arguably the queen of the viral routine is UCLA’s Katelyn Ohashi, whose moonwalking helped make her floor routines from both 2018 and 2019 spread like wildfire- her 2019 routine currently has 161,708,668 views on the UCLA Athletics youtube page. Though the 2021 season was a unique one with less of an audience, it was no exception in producing viral routines.

For many gymnasts, 2020 was the year that signified the end of an Olympic journey and the beginning of a life outside of gymnastics. Before the pandemic hit, Akash Modi was finally coming to terms with being done with the sport he loves for good. After hopefully competing at the 2020 Olympic Games, he planned to be done and move on. That plan obviously came crashing down with the postponement of the games, and at first, Modi wasn’t even sure he would continue.

Aleah Finnegan remembers watching Carlos Yulo make history at the 2018 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships. Yulo won bronze on floor exercise in Doha, making him the first Philippine gymnast to medal at a World Championships.

Shane Wiskus dealt with his fair share of setbacks this year, but it hasn’t changed his goals. No matter what stands in his path, he has his sights set on Tokyo 2021.
