Entering his 16th year at the helm of the Mountain Hawks, head coach Pat Santoro will once again have a plethora at options at many weights. Lehigh has long had one of the largest and deepest rooms in the NCAA wrestling's Division 1 and this upcoming season is no exception.

A lot happened in Norman since the 2023 NCAA tournament - former head coach Lou Rosselli resigned, former North Dakota State head coach Roger Kish was selected as his successor, assistants Nick Heflin, Sam Hazewinkel and Mike Lightner left, new assistants Austin Marsden and Cam Sykora were brought in, seven wrestlers hit the transfer portal, and eight wrestlers transferred in. While a lot has happened, I still expect 70% of this year’s starting lineup to either be either back from last year’s lineup or coming off of a redshirt year in Norman.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are coming off a 4th place finish at the 2023 NCAA Tournament and look poised to have another strong season in 2023-24. Iowa State posted their best NCAA finish in the Kevin Dresser era last season at 11th. Despite losing key performers Marcus Coleman and Sam Schuyler from the upper half of the lineup, the Cyclones should continue to rise and will once again be pushing for a top-ten finish. Some huge transfers and a lot of movement will give the Cyclones an almost entirely new lineup next season.

Iowa sent its full line-up to watch National Collegiate Women’s Wrestling Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, earlier this year. The Hawkeyes made the 15-minute drive north to scout the competition for their inaugural season.

The University of Iowa women’s wrestling team kicks off its inaugural season later this year. Head coach Clarissa Chun has already built a championship-caliber team with multiple high-level options at most weights.

After a down year by Tom Ryan standards in 2022, the Buckeyes rebounded in 2023 by bringing home a team trophy from NCAAs. Despite losing valuable senior leadership from Malik Heinselman, Ethan Smith, Kaleb Romero, and Tate Orndorff, Ohio State is in a good position to bring home another trophy this year. While Jesse Mendez is planning to Olympic redshirt, this will be the debut season for a lot of the loaded 2022 #1 overall recruiting class.

Northern Colorado had a breakout 2023 NCAA Tournament with Andrew Alirez bringing home UNC’s first national champion since 1962 and a top 25 team finish. Despite that finish in 2023, there are a number of reasons for Oklahoma State fans to be excited about the 2023-24 season. The Cowboys were active in the transfer portal, have a number of returning All-Americans, and have solid freshmen coming out of redshirt.
