Hawkeyes Add Another Recruit To Inaugural Class
Ava Bayless of Wyoming Seminary has confirmed she will compete for the University of Iowa next season.
The University of Iowa women’s wrestling team keeps adding talent to its already impressive inaugural recruiting class. Ava Bayless of Wyoming Seminary has confirmed that she will compete for Clarissa Chun next season.
She narrowed her choices to Iowa and North Central before ultimately deciding to become a Hawkeye. Bayless — ranked #12 at 112 pounds — is a three-time Fargo All-American and a 16U finalist in 2018.
“I compared schools and looked at both academics and athletics. Iowa fits me and what I want to do and where I want to be in college. The Iowa program is amazing — just the history of Iowa in wrestling.
“Coach Clarissa Chun is an amazing person and an amazing coach. I think I can grow tremendously as a wrestler under her. Being able to be a Division I school for wrestling is something I never imagined until the Iowa program started. I’m so grateful for the opportunity. Our goals are to be national champions.”
