The horror continues when it comes to the sex abuse scandal involving former USA Gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar. Olympic champion Gabby Douglas is the most recent gymnast to come out and say she was also abused by Nassar.

Douglas posted the news on Instagram today, which doubled as an apology for the words she shared in response to Aly Raisman's plea against victim shaming. 

In Douglas' apology, she wrote that she too was abused by Nassar, but held back sharing about it for years because of the oppressive culture in which she was immersed.

I didn't publicly share my experiences as well as many other things because for years we were conditioned to stay silent and honestly some things were extremely painful. I wholeheartedly support my teammates for coming forward with what happened to them.

She concluded with a final apology for the way she handled the situation with Raisman on Twitter, writing,

I have learned from this and I'm determined to be even better.

Nassar is currently in jail awaiting sentencing for child pornography. He has agreed to plead guilty to multiple charges of sexual assault and will face at least 25 years in prison.
