CORVALLIS, Oregon -- Former Oregon State gymnast Brittany Harris has returned to Corvallis at the Beavers' volunteer assistant coach, head coach Tanya Chaplin announced Friday.

Harris, a four-year letterwinner for the Beavers from 2011-14, helped Oregon State reach NCAA championships twice and qualified as an individual all-around competitor in 2013. She earned Pac-12 all-conference honors on the uneven bars twice during her OSU career.

"We are excited to welcome Brittany back as an assistant coach," Chaplin said.

Her experience as a gymnast in this program and her contagious enthusiasm will definitely help to lead this year's team to new heights. I think her perspective and competitive drive will be a positive addition to our coaching staff.
Harris' role in 2017-18 will be focused on balance beam and choreography on floor exercise.

"It is a blessing and an honor to come back to this program," Harris said.

I had a fantastic four years here as a student-athlete and so happy to have this opportunity to return.
"I've always wanted to coach college gymnastics and this is such a wonderful opportunity. My dad wanted me to come back and get more mentorship from Tanya, so this is like living my dream and his, and my mother is my biggest supporter and best friend, and it feels good knowing I am making both of my parents proud."

In her down time, Harris is pursuing a master's degree in interdisciplinary studies.
