RALEIGH – NC State gymnastics head coach Kim Landrus announced on Monday the addition of Philip Ogletree to her staff. He will serve as an assistant coach and will help direct the program's efforts on vault and floor.

Ogletree comes to Raleigh with a wealth of experience in the Southeastern Conference, as he has spent the last five seasons on Georgia's staff and was an assistant coach at LSU from 2001-12.

"I'm thrilled to welcome Phil to the Wolfpack family," said head coach Kim Landrus. "Throughout the search process, it was evident that Phil's philosophy aligned very well with mine."
His core values, perspective on teaching and understanding of the student-athlete were key factors that made him the right fit for this position. Additionally, he is well respected among the gymnastics community and will play an integral role in recruiting future members of the Pack.
"I'm confident that Phil will be a great addition and bring the expertise that he has gained from his previous coaching stints to NC State. He will strive to motivate each student-athlete to reach their full potential to ensure that their experience is second to none. I can't wait for him to arrive in Raleigh!"

As a member of the Bulldogs' coaching staff, he spent time directing the team's efforts on vault, uneven bars and floor exercise. He guided nine gymnasts to a combined 20 regular season and NCAA Championship All-America honors, as well as three gymnasts to SEC Championship event titles. He additionally saw Brandie Jay win a national title on vault in 2016.

During his time in Athens the Gymdogs advanced to the NCAA Championship every year, and managed to clinch a spot in the Super Six in 2013, '14 and '16.

In 2014 he was named NACGC/W Southeast Region Co-Assistant Coach of the Year after Georgia finished the season ranked in the top-10 on both vault and floor, and posted a 49.625 vs. Denver to tie for the highest vault score in the country throughout the regular season.

Prior to his stint at Georgia, Ogletree served as an assistant coach at LSU for 12 seasons. He was a key part of LSU's success from 2001-2012, as the program made 10 consecutive trips to the NCAA Championship and advanced to the Super Six on three occasions.

During his tenure Ogletree primarily headed the team's efforts on bars, guiding the Tigers to 12 of the top 13 bars scores in school history, including a school record 49.650 in 2002. His bars squads ranked in the top 10 nationally each year from 2004-10, including a No. 3 ranking in 2005 and a No. 4 ranking in 2009.

LSU gymnasts earned a total of 16 All-America honors on the uneven bars under Ogletree's watch, including a school-record three gymnasts in 2005 and 2010. In 2010, two LSU gymnasts finished in the top five on bars at the NCAA Individual Event Finals.

Ogletree, a member of the UGA men's gymnastics team from 1980-82, was named the NCAA Central Regional Assistant Coach of the Year in 2004 and 2005 and helped lead the Tigers to the NCAA Super Six in 2008 and 2009.

A native of Atlanta, Ogletree also previously coached at the Georgia Gymnastics Academy in Lawrenceville and the Atlanta School of Gymnastics in Tucker. He arrived at LSU in the fall of 2000 with 18 years of coaching experience, including 11 with Level 10 gymnasts in the state of Georgia.
