Big Jumps In Top 100 Rankings: Rachael Flam & Lauren Navarro Rock Regionals

Following outstanding performances at the 2017 USA Gymnastics Regional Championships, Rachael Flam of Stars Gymnastics and Lauren Navarro of Gliders have both made notable jumps in the FloGymnastics Level 10 Top 100 Rankings.

Flam rose from No. 8 in the pre-regionals rankings to No. 2 in the post-regionals rankings after scoring a 38.5750 to win the Region 3 all-around title on April 8. Flam has had an outstanding season in which she has scored a 38 all-around score consistently, including a huge 39.2750 at the WOGA Classic.

A year ago, Flam won the all-around at Junior Olympic Nationals with a 38.575, and she will look to defend her title with another strong performance. 


Navarro soared from 21st in the pre-regionals rankings to a top-10 spot this week -- clocking in at No. 8. She had an impressive 38.9750 at the Region 1 Championships to secure the all-around title in the senior D division. Navarro has been a consistent performer this season, with several all-around titles and mid-38 scores.

Hear From Pitt's First-Year Head Coach Sam Snider

Sam Snider is the new head coach for Pittsburgh Gymnastics for the 2017-18 season. She was an outstanding gymnast at Arkansas from 2005-2008. From 2009-2011, Snider was the director of operations, before assuming the role of assistant coach from 2012-14 and assistant head coach from 2015-16 for the Razorbacks.

The new Pittsburgh coaching staff consists of Sam Snider (head coach) as well as Ryan Snider and Dave Kuzara (assistants). This is the first year these three coaches have worked on the same staff, although they have experience together in the past that brings them together with great chemistry.
