Double Duty Meet Weekend: Denver Travels To Southern Utah
The eighth-ranked Denver women's gymnastics team and No. 11 Southern Utah are preparing for a quick turnaround when they hit the competition floor for the second time in four days in their dual meet at Centrum Arena in Cedar City, UT, on Monday.

Both Denver and host SUU are coming off tough tests away from home on Friday. The Pioneers are wrapping up a four-meet road trip after finishing behind top-ranked Oklahoma in a quad meet that also featured No. 20 Nebraska and Texas Woman's. Meanwhile, the Thunderbirds are returning home for the second time this season, following their loss at Boise State to open the weekend.

Stay tuned to FloGymnastics to LIVE-stream No. 8 Denver at No. 11 Southern Utah at 7 PM MT on Monday, February 6

Denver

The Pioneers have been off to a strong start this season by setting a new program record for the most consecutive weeks in the top 10.

Although Denver has only put up five gymnasts on vault, the Pioneers are led by freshman Maddie Karr who performs a beautiful Yurchenko 1 1/2 with a season average of 9.881. On bars, Denver is also led by a standout freshman in Sam Ogden, who has averaged a 9.875 this season. Both Julia Ross and Karr are also gymnasts to watch on bars for the Pioneers. On beam, Denver's strong lineup is paced by senior Julia Ross's 9.838 average. On floor, the Pioneers only put up five routines and are led by Nikole Addison with a 9.888 average. Ross is hitting her stride in the all-around after posting a 39.40 all-around to win the second title of her career in a quad meet against West Virginia, Temple, and Towson on January 29.

Although Denver's lineups might not be deep, they have great potential and talent. The Pioneers have shown no weak events this season, as they rank in the top 15 on all four disciplines. Watch for Karr and Ross to lead the way for the Pioneers as they look to pick up a road win on Monday.

Southern Utah

Before falling to Boise State, Southern Utah was off to a hot start this season after picking up back-to-back wins. The Thunderbirds scored a season-high 196.15 in their opener against Stanford and then totaled a 195.800 to knock off North Carolina State. In Boise, Idaho, this past Friday, Southern Utah tallied just 194.325 in its loss.

The Thunderbirds will look to get off to a strong start against Denver on Monday behind their solid vault lineup's 49-plus season average. Senior Kirsten Yee is a leader on bars for Southern Utah with clean and consistent bar routines and will add a top score to the lineup. Yee currently holds the record at SUU for the highest bar score of 9.95. The Thunderbirds shine on beam behind seniors Stacie Webb and Danielle Ramirez, who are tied for the seventh-best beam average in the country (9.875). In the all-around, Webb is coming up big for the team with a season high of 39.425.
