Meet Preview: Illini Take On Lindenwood Lions in St. Louis
Today, #24 Illinois will take on #48 Lindenwood at Lindenwood’s home turf in St. Louis, Missouri. The Illini are coming off a season high against Michigan State, where they won the meet with a 196.300. Lindenwood, meanwhile, will be looking to improve on their previous performance, where they scored an uncharacteristically low 190.950 in a quad meet against Kentucky, Kent State and Ball State.

Each of these teams will be relying on their top performers to put up big numbers in this match up. FloGymnastics will be streaming the competition LIVE here at 2:00pm CST. Below, we take a look at what routines you can look forward to watching on each event.

Vault

Lindenwood senior Valeri Ingui has been with the Lady Lions since the beginning of the program. She has been a solid competitor for the team on vault, bars and beam this year, posting season highs of 9.75 or better on each event. Ingui is beautiful on vault, where she performs a clean Yurchenko full that shows great distance and height from the table. Her season high this year is a 9.825. Check out Ingui’s vault below:

From Illinois, junior Erin Buchanan is a strong competitor for the team. She has competed all four events so far this season, and she is very consistent on vault. She performs a solid Yurchenko full as well. Her season high is a 9.825. Interestingly, her career high (a 9.925) came in 2014 in a meet against Lindenwood. Check out her vault below:

Bars

Lindenwood junior Aubree Horn competes both vault and uneven bars for the team. She is a taller gymnast at 5’7” and she has beautiful lines on bars. Her season and career high this year is a 9.8, which she has achieved twice so far. In her routine, she performs a great Jaeger connected into an immediate overshoot, and she has superb form throughout her routine. Check it out below:

Beam

Illinois freshman Lizzy Leduc has been a top all-arounder for the Illini this year. She joined the team from Metroplex Gymnastics and was a member of the Philippine National Team last year. One of Leduc’s best events this year has been beam, where she has already logged a season high of 9.9. She is super solid on this event and performs a beautiful Onodi. Check out Leduc’s routine below:

From Lindenwood, sophomore Hannah Rector performs a beautiful beam routine. Rector is a confident competitor who showcases unique connections in her hands-free routine, such as a front aerial walkover connected to a back tuck. Check out her routine below:

Floor

Senior Giana O’Connor is a seasoned all-around competitor for Illinois. She contributes such high scores on all four events that it’s hard to pick just one event to watch her on, but her floor is definitely one of the highlights. She has already tied her career high of 9.925 this season. O’Connor shows a lot of power in her routine, both in her tumbling and her choreography. Check out her routine below:
