As the 2016 NCAA Gymnastics season is set to begin in just a few weeks, the East Atlantic Gymnastics League announced the results of its 2016 Pre-Season Poll, on Tuesday, December 8th. George Washington University tallied 31 points and three first-place votes to narrowly take the No. 1 spot over North Carolina State University at No. 2, also with three first-place votes, but with 30 points. Rounding out the top-3 was the University of New Hampshire with 27 points.

The Pre-Season Poll is based on ranking projections given by head coaches of the six EAGL schools. The 2016 Pre-Season EAGL rankings are as follows:
1. George Washington University – 31 points (3 first-place votes)
2. North Carolina State University – 30 points (3 first-place votes)
3. University of New Hampshire – 27 points
4. University of Pittsburgh – 18 points
5. Towson University – 12 points
6. University of North Carolina – 8 points

GW is the defending EAGL Champion, winning its first-ever EAGL title last season with a final team score of 195.850. The Colonials are set to begin their season on January 9th at the Little Boston Invitational against EAGL rival, UNH and Rutgers University. Also on January 9th, NC State will kick-off its season in a dual meet at Penn State University. On January 10th, Pittsburgh will host EAGL opponent, Towson, along with the University of Maryland and Eastern Michigan University for a quad meet. Also on the 10th, UNC will host the College of William and Mary in its season opener.
