Rising star Maile O’Keefe had an outstanding performance this past weekend at the Cal Classic Elite Qualifier and has been named the Gymnastike Performer of the Week. She took second all-around with a 54.4 and qualified for junior elite. Watch her interview below from after the competition.
Maile competes such poise and grace one would easily forget she’s only 12 years old! Gymnastics fans have been following Maile for years after her Salcianu coaches posted videos of her on YouTube. She also gained recognition last year after she was named the most improved gymnast at not just one but two USA Developmental Camps that are lead by Valeri Liukin at the USAG National Training Center.
Maile’s expressive and sharp dance draws in the crowd, and that along with her big skills and make it hard to take your eyes off her! Watch her winning beam routine from the Cal Clasic below.
Maile’s gymnastics has a lot of passion and fire and is fun to watch. She has great basics and form, which are crucial when she continues to build up her skills. Make sure to keep an eye out for her in the future!
