This competition will be made up for two teams from the SEC, three Big Ten teams and one team from EAGL conference. This regional will feature two top teams both from the state of Alabama. Look for this regional to bring in a large crowd. The top two teams and the top two all-around competitors (who are not on an advancing team) from each regional will receive an automatic berth to the national championships in Fort Worth, Texas, April 17-19.

Alabama comes in as the number one seed and fresh off winning the SEC Championship. Alabama scored a 197.525. Alabama has great momentum following their huge win from the SEC Championships. The Crimson Tide will have a home meet feel, as they travel the 150 miles to regionals. First year head coach Dana Duckworth is looking to prove that the team can continue to impress in the post season. The team is led by junior Lauren Beers and senior Kaitlyn Clark. Alabama will have a favorable draw, starting on bars, however will have to sit out the final rotation on a bye. Alabama will look to set a strong team score to qualify them into the NCAA National Championships.
Auburn- #2 Seed
The host team of the Auburn Tigers are having one of their best seasons to date, coming in as the number two seed. Auburn is coming off a fourth place performance at the SEC Championships with a team score of 196.95. Auburn is led by junior Caitlin Atkinson, senior Megan Walker and senior Bri Guy. Auburn has the favorable draw of starting on a bye before bars and finishing on vault. Look for Auburn to go big to punch a ticket to the NCAA National Championships for the first time since 2003. Auburn will be fueled by their home town crowd and look to prove they are good enough to compete at the National Championships.

The Minnesota Gophers come into regionals as the number three seed. Look for the Gophers to take advantage if Alabama or Auburn opens the door during the competition. Minnesota has been an up and down team this year, but is full of talent. The Gophers are led by stellar all-arounder Lindsay Mable. Mable has proven she is a top gymnast and will look to help her team qualify to the NCAA National Championships. Interim head coach, Jenny Hansen will look to prepare her team for this pressure packed situation. Minnesota has a tough draw of starting on beam and finishing on bars. Watch for Minnesota to go all out this weekend, and upset a top two seed.

The Maryland Terps are coming off a season high at the Big Ten Championships with a 196.075. Both Karen Tang and Abbie Epperson are both gymnasts to watch for Maryland this weekend. The Terps are making their seventh consecutive year. Maryland will have a very favorable rotation starting on vault and competing in Olympic Order. The Terps will look to gain momentum as their start on their best event, vault.

The University of Iowa is coming off a season high at the Big Ten Championships with a 196.50. Iowa is looking to continue that trend as they look for their big in program history to the NCAA National Championships. Iowa will be surrounded by three other teams they have seen this season. The Hawkeyes are led by sophomore Mollie Drenth, junior Alie Glover, senior Sydney Hoerr, and sophomore Angel Metcalf. Iowa will sit out the first rotation with a bye, then moving to floor, and finishing on the all-important balance beam. Iowa is a team that can catch fire and get on a roll to a high team score. Look for the Hawkeyes to take advantage if another team opens the door.

George Washington University is thrilled to be back at regionals, making their first appearance since 2002. The Colonials won their first ever EAGL Championship with a score of 195.850. George Washington is led by a great freshman class in Jillian Winstanley, Cami Drouin-Allaire and Sara Mermelstein. Look for sophomore Chelsea Raineri and senior Elena Corcoran to make a big impact for the Champions as well. George Washington is a very strong vault team, ranked 10th in the country with a 49.315 RQS. The Colonials will start on floor and finish a bye following beam.
