#13 Penn State hosts Quad Meet in final Home Meet of Season

This Saturday, the #13 ranked Nittany Lions will host Iowa State, Brockport State and University of Pennsylvania in the final home meet of the 2015 season. It will be a night to remember as seniors Krystal Welsh, Sidney Sanabria-Robles, Alex Witt and Lexi Carroll compete for the last time in Recreation Hall.

The Nittany Lions will begin the meet on Vault. Penn State is ranked 18th on Vault in the nation with a Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) of 49.135. Additionally, Freshman Briannah Tsang is ranked 24th on the event. The Nittany Lions boast diversity on the event with several different, and difficult vaults being performed. The team will hope to start the meet off with a strong score above 49.2.

Penn State will then move to the Uneven Bars where they are ranked 12th in the nation, their highest place. This has been the standout event for the team so far this year. With an RQS of 49.04, the Nittany Lions are hanging with the best of them. Look for high flying combinations and releases in addition to stuck dismounts.

Most teams are concerned with getting through the Balance Beam with 6 hit routines and Penn State is no exception. While the Nittany Lions have had their issues on the event this year, they have been very solid for the past few weeks in competition. One might say that they have found their niche. Currently they are ranked 14th in the nation, and Sidney Sanabria-Robles is ranked 25th on the event. If Penn State can put together 6 solid routines, they have succeeded in taming the beast.

The Nittany Lions will conclude the meet on floor. While they are not ranked in the top 25 on the event, Penn State will look to go lights out and end this meet with a bang. While 5 of the 6 gymnasts opening up with an “E” pass on floor, the hardest level of skill, they definitely bring the difficulty to the table. This will also be the final goodbye for the seniors, with three of the four competing floor.
