No.24 Kentucky Travels to Missouri in an SEC Battle
The No. 24 Kentucky Wildcats travel to Columbia this Friday to take on the Missouri Tigers.

Both teams are looking to continue their success after each posting their highest team score of the season last weekend. The Tigers recorded a 195.85, their highest score since 2012, against SEMO and Lindenwood, while the Wildcats earned a 195.625 against fellow SEC competitor, Alabama.

The Missouri Tigers are led by seniors Laura Kappler and Becca Johnson. Kappler is coming off of a fantastic meet where she tied or set career highs on bars, floor, vault and the all-around.  Johnson also tied her career best on bars with a score of 9.90.

The freshmen, especially Shauna Miller and Becca Schugel, play an enormous role in contributing to their team’s lineup.

Just a few weeks ago, Shauna Miller was Missouri’s first gymnast to be named SEC Freshman of the Week. She has continued to be a stand-out freshman for this team and is currently ranked No. 20 in the all- around.

For the Wildcats, seniors Shelby Hilton and Shannon Mitchell continue to excel. The team just scored a 49.00 or above on both bars and floor for the first time this season. Four gymnasts, including Hilton and Mitchell, scored a 9.825 or above on floor against Alabama.
This SEC match-up is not to be missed as the two go head-to-head in what should be a close battle. The Tigers need to hit clean routines if they want overcome a more consistent UK team.

Competition is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. CT at the Hearnes Center.
